Tournament ready
New stages are big on environmental damage—throw an opponent into a wall or
slam them on the ground and surfaces will shatter, with debris flying off and
structures breaking. If you attack while in a field of flowers, flower
petals will fly off, and if you move around in the stage with gold coins all
over the floor of a cavern, the coins will fly through the air. These
visuals and effects are fine examples of the power behind the new, proprietary
Namco 256 Hardware System.
Keeping with our previous titles, Tekken 5’s Time Release system will continue
to pull players in long after its initial release. New characters, stages,
items, and more keep the game fresh week after week.
The new IC Card system provides access to a broad range of
customizations, rank achievements, statistic tracking, name displays, and player
bragging rights. The cabinet features two card readers and one card
dispenser.
Players can customize their characters head, face, upper and lower body with a huge
variety (50+) of items. Each of the character’s outfits allows for
custom colors. Namco has included a glut of color options for these areas to
ensure that no two custom characters are alike. One of the best aspects of
the customization feature is that there are certain items players can only get
if they have extremely impressive statistics, so there’s a sense of pride
involved in having these items.
Players “buy” these custom features by playing. The better the player
becomes, the more money they can earn for each fight fought. Tekken 5 is
geared towards versus game play. Players earn the most money by winning
against another player.
Another popular feature found only in Tekken 5 is the ability for players to
bring in their PlayStation®2 controller pads from home and plug them into the
ports on the control panel of the dedicated coin-operated game.

The additions and refinements of Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection make this
software version a greater leap than the revisions from Tekken 4 to Tekken 5!
Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection features over 600 new items, four new
characters and four totally new stages. In addition, all the previous
stages have been refreshed offering players over 35 stages to compete in.
Ten new third-player costumes have been added, now all characters have 4 default
colors in addition to their custom colors. Player feedback was
incorporated into the development of new moves, the tweaking of existing moves,
and in several game engine refinements. Overall, more than a thousand
changes have been made from Tekken 5 to Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection. New
titles, rankings, and card options have also been added to meet player demand.
Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection is currently available as an update kit.
The kit consists of a CD, dongle, marquee and a control panel overlay.
